Back in 2017 Dana Whyte of the UFC revealed that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather were forced to buy their own tickets for super fight! UFC chief White said that both camps wanted to avoid a repeat of the touting from when Mayweather faced Manny Pacquiao. White said that lessons were learned from when Mayweather faced off against Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and how ticket sales suffered due to third-person sales in the secondary market. Therefore, everybody has been forced to collect their August 26 super fight themselves – with no freebies. “There are a lot of shady things that can go on with tickets,” White told ESPN.
There were ticketing problems when Mayweather faced off against Pacquiao.
“If the tickets aren’t expensive enough, it’s like what happened with the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. It was a complete disaster. “You don’t only hurt yourself, you hurt the fight and you hurt the city of Las Vegas.” “Now you’re hurting the fans, you’re hurting the city of Las Vegas and you’re hurting the event in the long-run, in my opinion. “So I wanted everybody to buy their own tickets. “I’m buying my own tickets, UFC are buying their own tickets, Conor is buying, Floyd’s buying. “Everybody is paying for their own tickets to stop that from happening.”
